#BeyondTheConversation
Walk theme:
“Beyond the Conversation with Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).”
In a heart-warming display of solidarity, compassion, and determination, the Sang’ida Foundation hosted a remarkable 10 km charity walk to raise support for children with disabilities. This extraordinary event, held in the picturesque landscape of Laikipia County, Kenya, not only demonstrated the power of community but also showcased the unwavering commitment of individuals, organizations, and government representatives to make a positive impact.
Under the radiant Kenyan sun, participants from all walks of life gathered to support the cause, united by their shared goal of empowering children with disabilities and promoting inclusivity. The event received an auspicious start as Hon. Silvia Museiya, representing the State Department of Wildlife within the Ministry of Tourism, officially flagged off the walk. Her presence symbolized the interconnectedness of different sectors in fostering a supportive environment for those in need.
The event’s dignitary lineup was a testament to the cause’s significance. Hon. Jane Kagiri, a prominent Women Representative in the National Assembly, graced the event with her inspiring words. Reflecting on the collective responsibility of society towards children with disabilities, she emphasized the importance of breaking down barriers and creating opportunities that enable every child to flourish.
Adding to the event’s prestige was the gracious attendance of a former Minister for Water, Environment, and Natural Resources in Laikipia County, Njenga Kahiro and Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital (NTRH) CEO, Dr. Panga and colleagues. Their presence underscored the commitment of regional leadership in championing the rights of children with disabilities and nurturing an all-inclusive community.
Representatives from the United Disabled Persons of Kenya and the National Council for People with Disabilities lent an authoritative voice to the event. Their participation highlighted the significance of grassroots initiatives and the critical role that advocacy organizations play in advocating for change at both local and national levels. These representatives exemplified the idea that progress is a collaborative effort that necessitates the involvement of everyone.
The 10 km charity walk wasn’t just an exercise of the body but also an exercise of the heart. With each step taken, participants were not only raising awareness but also contributing directly to the betterment of children with disabilities. The funds generated through this event will be channeled into initiatives that provide educational, medical, and social support to these young individuals, equipping them with the tools they need to lead fulfilling lives.
As the event concluded, the atmosphere was charged with hope, camaraderie, and a renewed commitment to making a positive change. Participants and guests alike left with a stronger sense of purpose, determined to continue their efforts in advocating for the rights and wellbeing of children with disabilities.
In a world often marred by divisions, the Sang’ida Foundation’s charity walk served as a beacon of unity, compassion, and progress. By bringing together government officials, representatives of disability-focused organizations, and everyday individuals, this event underscored the power of collective action in creating a brighter future for all children, regardless of their abilities.
As the sun set over the picturesque landscape of Laikipia County, it was clear that this 10 km charity walk was more than just a physical journey – it was a symbolic stride toward a more inclusive and caring society. The Sang’ida Foundation’s efforts will undoubtedly continue to inspire positive change, reminding us all that when we walk together, we walk toward a better world for everyone.
